PREFACE: To the lawyer having on trial a case in which the charge of forgery forms a feature, a knowledge of the facts relating to forged writings, and their production becomes very important. One understanding the causes conditioning the appearances of genuine, as contrasted with those of simulated writing, is better enabled to try a case of this kind intelligently than another, who has not a knowledge of these facts at his disposal.
