Rafael Delgado (1853-1914) was a Mexican novelist who in 1896 became a member of the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, occupying the 12th (XII) chair. His novel Angelina, first published in 1893, is a tale of romantic love set in the 1860s and, as the author states in his foreword, based on the experiences of his own youth. It was with Angelina that Delgado achieved his greatest success. Reprinted from an original Spanish language edition.
