    Complete vocal score for Verdis early work depicting the death of Attila the Hun during the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the fifth century. The premiere was given in Venices Teatro La Fenice on March 17, 1846 in the tense period when northern Italy grew increasingly resistant to Austrian rule. The drama lirico was only moderately successful in its day. By the time of the premiere of Aïda in 1871, performances were very rare. The work has enjoyed something of a revival in the latter part of the 20th century into the present day for its showcase solo numbers for bass voice. The score offered here is a digitally restored reissue of the one printed by Ricordi around 1890 as part of a complete series of Verdis work - who was the superstar of their catalogue by then. Singers and choruses will appreciate the very readable A4 format. A large full score and orchestra parts for this opera are likewise now available from Serenissima Music (95474).
