Author (Coach M. Shimoyama) with then LA Laker rookie Jordan Farmar at a UCLA Basketball game. At UCLA, Jordan starred as an All-American Point Guard for two Years. He was the PAC-10 Freshman of the Year and made the All-PAC-10 First Team for two years. He elected to file for the NBA Draft after his Sophomore season at UCLA and was drafted by the LA Lakers in the 1st round and started several games for the Lakers in his rookie season. In the four years that he played for the Lakers Jordan won two World NBA Championships. Jordan went to the New Jersey Nets where he felt he could play as a point guard, compared to the Lakers triangle offense, which doesnt really need a point guard. Their pt. gd. Passes to the wing and runs to the corner. He wanted to run the team as a true point guard. With the Nets, with limited playing time, he still managed to average over 10 ppg and was 5th in the NBA in 3 pt. shots with a 45% shooting (overall shooting = 48%). Jordan will be playing in the European League this year after being bought out by the Turkish team Anadolu Efes, where he will join Sasha Vujacic two-time former teammate Sasha Vujacic, with whom he played on the Lakers (4 yrs.) and on the Nets. Jordan is only 25 yrs. old and will have a great future in Pro Basketball because of his great knowledge of the game, fundamentals, ball handling, defense, court vision for his uncanny passing, unselfishness and his great desire to win. These abilities along with his physical capabilities such as his 42 vertical (had several slam dunks including posterizing in his 6 yr. NBA career), quickness, and uncanny ability to finish layups, etc. Author had the pleasure of coaching him in Middle School for 3 years. As a 10 yr. Old (5 tall and 85 lbs [dripping wet]), told Coach S that someday he was going to play in the NBA!!
