Dr. Judge served as a combat military physician during the Vietnam war. He subsequently was an N.I.H. fellow for two years, researching Viral Oncology and then embarked on a 40 plus year career as a practicing anatomic and clinical pathologist and department head, while also acquiring a law degree because of his interest in forensics. He also fought for bureaucratic recognition of what pathologists contribute to their medical colleagues practices and their patients.
