This debilitating disease, which Ronald Reagan called the long good bye affects not only the person suffering from it, but also their family, friends, and particularly those who have taken the responsibility of their care. This was the case with Heron and Neftali Ocampo. Both of them were also afflicted with debilitating arthritis, limiting their mobility and making every day tasks extremely difficult. Heron and Neftali were married for almost 69 years. They had seven children, four girls and three boys. Their youngest daughter, Edie J. took on the task of their care almost from the beginning. This book is not only about the devastation of Alzheimers disease, but also a semi-biographical account of events, seen through Edies eyes.
