The longest story, Lurieville, deals with a good man, who in a fit of anger, kills his wife. He then decides to run away rather than face charges for the act. Another story deals with a serial killer who travels to other states during his yearly vacations to find his victims. One story is about a football coach in a small college who has one particular season and one particular player that he will never forget. One of the stories is about a middle-aged couple who move to the country where they encounter a small boy who completely changes their lives. In The Perfect Bank Robbery, a businessman experiences serious financial difficulties. He then decides to rob a bank to solve his problems. In the science-fiction story, A Year Called Home, a young man from the future is sent back to 1963 to investigate the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He not only witnesses the assassination, but he encounters other things and people that change his life. In The Lady Next Door, a divorced man meets a divorced woman who gradually reveals her unusual powers to him. All of the stories contain characters that you might really know. There are situations here that you might have actually experienced. The people here are human and flawed, but most of them are likeable.
