The torturous route that had to be followed in changing from a theological to an educational career. The trauma both for my parents and the local church. Lessons learned in my first headship of a school in a war situation. The quandary was always what it really meant to have lived a successful life. That was a question with which I was confronted throughout my career. Political developments in my homeland demanded that I find a fresh outlet for my energies. Our family immigrated to Australia, where I needed to begin my career again more or less from scratch. An opportunity soon presented itself, however, to become the founder headmaster of a new school in New South Wales, a position of which I had often dreamed. Never believed that it would become a reality. That school can now hold its head up high in educational circles. The book describes the many challenges faced and the decisions taken in endeavouring to make education worthwhile for every member of the schools of which I was a member.
