No one is more alive to the fact that, in spite of their utmost care and attention todetail, there must inevitably occur deficiencies, which they will yet makc good, and even some errors, which further inforination will enable then to rectify. But, as it seems to me, the detection of faults of omission and commission will be no easy task, even for those best qualified to criticize. The book is unique. To whom should this historical record be dedicated I think there can be but one answer to the question. The only passible dedication of this Roll Call of Catholics throughout the British Empire, with here and there a welcome guest chosen from among their best friends in other lands, must be to our gracious Sovereign, Rex EL Anperator, King Bdward VII, in plain, straightforward token of the firmly-founded devotion ofall Uritish Catholics to His Majestys person and throne. Loyalty is the true note of Catholic life. That His Majesty, in his generous sympathy and kindness of heart, will deign to accept this humble offering as a genuine expression of the heartfelt loyalty of Catholics throughout his Empire we feel well assured.
