WHAT HAPPENED? WAS IT OVER OR HIDING TO KILL AGAIN? The story begins as a child recalls, with his accepting mind, the events that he always remembered, but did not know if they happened that way, or at all. The child remembered, but was the event twisted by some coexistent disease? Had the lens of his past become distorted? Better still, was his past simply smoothed over? Either way it would require the adult mind to attempt to find answers about long ago, itself buried deep, but not dead. Kan Ellis returns to his childhood. In so doing he becomes entrapped by these memories of what he saw as a child and now interprets differently. What he learned was about a World War being fought. What he sees now is another war being fought then. This war continues. The enemy past was clearly defined, now the enemy he meets is vague as it gently tastes of the life of Kan, even more of his younger brother Del. They had been Gnostic warriors and failed to learn their way out of that time. This is a graphic account of children in a small North Carolina town as they enter that world of the Second World War in preparation for the wars some of them would live to fight. As the reader becomes entangled in the childrens spiders web, you will find a reality too foreign not to be attractive and too unreal not to be true. Through the events of these childrens youth, as they seek meaning in their child-minds, a backstory, hidden at first, begins to grow. Now, writing this as a thirty year old, Kan seeks this past as it calls him back.
