Esau’s name means “hairy” or “red” and Jacob’s name means “Supplanter” or “Deceiver.”The long and short of this story is that God chose Jacob (Israel) over Esau. Jacob became the father of the Israelite nation while Esau became one of the founders of the Arabic nation which subsequently became the Muslim people.
