The province of Almeidas, also known as the northern savannah province, is one of the fifteen provinces of the department of Cundinamarca (Colombia). The province is located in the northeast of the department of Cundinamarca, and is comprised of the municipalities of Chocontá, Macheta, Mantá, Sesquilé, Suesca, Tibiritá and Villapinzón. Currently it does not have functional sanitary landfills in its jurisdiction, since the two that they have are closed due to environmental damages and a defective administration. The objective is to optimize a conventional landfill with the Fukuoka method, a method used for the first time in Japan in the 70s; this method consists of generating a semi-aerobic decomposition of waste through aeration columns, this method also has a leachate recirculation. These new implementations in a conventional landfill makes that the quality of the leachate improves and the methane production decreases. We proceed to find the possible location by means of ArcGIS software, which is a Geographic Information System (GIS).
